Learn more about some of the games being played in events around BC. Games range from 1v1 to team based games on a variety of platforms like PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. Some tournaments are BYOD (or bring your own device) while others take place at locations which offer their own equipment and hardware.


Hearthstone is a free-to-play strategy card game for Windows, Macintosh, and iPad. Players created decks from their card collection and play against other players in a 1v1 environment.


Overwatch is a console and PC team-based shooter set on a near-future earth. Every match is an intense multiplayer showdown pitting a diverse cast of heroes, mercenaries, scientists, adventurers, and oddities against each other in an epic, globe-spanning conflict. Matches are conducted in a 6v6 format.

League of Legends

League of Legends is a PC team-based online game combining RTS and RPG elements. Teams of champions with unique playstyles and designs compete head-to-head across different battlefields and game modes. The game receives frequent updates and has one of the largest tournament followings in the world. Matches are played out in a 5v5 format.

Counterstrike: Global Offensive

Counterstrike: Global Offensive is a team and objective based shooter for both PC, MacOS, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 platforms. Players complete in teams of five as both terrorists and counter-terrorists with objectives such as rescuing hostages or planting explosives while neutralizing the other team on a round by round basis. Matches are conducted in a 5v5 format.

Super Smash Brothers

Super Smash Bros. is a fighting game divided into two different set of communities: Smash Melee continues to be popular despite being on the older generation Nintendo Gamecube. Smash 4 is available on both the Wii U and 3DS. Instead of depleting lifebars, players must attempt to knock their opponents off the map. The series features characters from many of Nintendo’s popular franchises like Starfox, Mario, and Link. Matches are conducted in a 1v1 format.

Street Fighter 5

Street Fighter V is a fighting game on both the Windows and Playstation 4 platform. Like it’s predecessors, gameplay is a side-scrolling fighting system. Players select and use characters within the Street Fighter universe in order to defeat their opponents with each character featuring their own unique set of moves and attacks. Matches are played in a 1v1 format.

Clash Royale

Clash Royale is a mobile strategy game featuring elements from collectible card games, tower defense games, and multiplayer online battle arenas. Players must destroy their opponent’s King’s Tower in order to claim victory by playing a variety of 8 cards from their deck. Matches are conducted in a 1v1 format.

Dota 2

Dota 2 is Multiplayer Online Battle Arena which is a sequel to the original Defense of the Ancients, community-created mod for Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos. Matches are played between two teams of five players with teams occupying their own base on a map with the goal of destroying a large structure from the opposing team known as “The Ancient”.
